L’école élémentaire de Li-bog

of Maasin City, Province of So. Leyte, Philippines

Lib-og Elementary School is a government school and a complete elementary school in the district of Maasin I of Maasin City Division. It offers classes from Kindergarten to Grade VI.

It was once a primary school in August 1998, but became a complete elementary in 2005. The school is managed and run by a school principal with 6 teachers under her management who are handling/teaching Kindergarten to the 6th grade classes. It has a population of more or less 200 schoolchildren and is 3.5 kilometers away from the city proper, and has a total land area of 2, 940 square meters.

Ecole élémentaire de Li-bogThe learners of this school belong to a poor family, since their parents are engaged in candle making and fishing as their means of livelihood. So, most of the time the school children skip schooling due to poverty and sometimes used as errands in household chores and in helping their parents for a living.

As of this time, the school is in need of a covered school stage which is of use among the learners and teachers during school activities and programs. Though the school is only a small school in terms of population and land area, it still shows up in terms of academic and extra-curricular competitions due to teachers’ commitment and dedication.

Paroissiens de Fouesnant et Bénodet

Lors de la messe du 2 décembre, qui réunissait à Fouesnant l’ensemble des paroissiens de Notre Dame de la Mer, il a été annoncé qu’un tronc serait placé aux sorties des messes dominicales  à St Pierre à Fouesnant et St Thomas à Bénodet.

Ces troncs permettront de collecter les offrandes des paroissiens au profit de l’association Pakigangay, et ce pendant la période de l’Avent.

Merci aux paroissiens de la paroisse Notre Dame de la Mer pour leur générosité.

Nicasio Camillo. Témoignage d’un jeune du Foyer St Joseph, tout juste diplômé de l’Université de Droit

Ci-dessous le témoignage de Nicasio Camillo, un jeune de Saint Joseph, qui vient d’obtenir son diplôme de droit !

« Bonjour PAKIG-ANGAY !
Je m’appelle Nicasio Camillo Jr. Je suis originaire de Milagroso, Sogod, Southern Leyte.
J’ai vingt-cinq ans et j’ai obtenu un baccalauréat de Sciences en Criminologie, le 4 avril 2018.
Ce fut un long et difficile parcours, mais j’en suis fier, parce que j’en étais capable ! Je n’y avais jamais pensé avant, et pour moi c’était juste un rêve.
Un rêve très difficile à atteindre, à cause de ma situation familiale.
Mon père était locataire d’un petit terrain dans notre barangay (quartier?) et le revenu n’était pas suffisant pour subvenir à nos besoins en nourriture.
Je suis entré au Foyer St Joseph quand j’étais en quatrième année (équivalent CM1). J’avais été présenté à l’institution par mon frère. Quand j’étais dans cette institution, alors que c’était encore un établissement de soin résidentiel, j’ai eu une vie assez confortable avec mes camarades d’école.
Seulement, je suis loin de ma famille et je me sentais souvent seul. Mais, le Foyer St Joseph a tout fait pour que je me sente chez moi.
Lorsque l’établissement résidentiel a pris fin, j’ai eu l’honneur d’être l’un des fileuls du programme PAKIG-ANGAY.
Merci de m’avoir donné cette chance ! Mon rêve n’aurait pas été possible sans votre généreux soutien.
Je suis le premier de ma famille à aller au collège (équivalent aux 2 premières années après le bac). Je me sens tellement béni. Mon rêve de toute une vie avance.
Encore une fois, merci, pour votre don, et s’il vous plaît, n’arrêtez pas d’aider parce que cela m’a permis de devenir celui je suis aujourd’hui. »

« Hi PAKIG-ANGAY!
I am Nicasio Camillo Jr. I come from Milagroso, Sogod, Southern Leyte.
I am twenty-five years old and graduated Bachelor of Science in Criminology last April 4, 2018.
It was a long and hard journey but with a big satisfaction, because I was able to make it.
I never expected it before — for me it was just a dream. A dream that is very hard to reach, because of my family situation.
My father was just a tenant of a small lot in our barangay and whose income was just enough for our food.
I entered the St Joseph Boys Home when I was in Grade Four. I was introduced to the institution by my brother. Being in the institution before, when it was still a residential care facility, I have had a fairly comfortable life together with my fellow scholars. Only that, I am far from my family and many times felt lonely. But, the institution gave everything for me to feel at home.
When the residential facility ended, I am honored to be one of the recipients of the PAKIG-ANGAY scholarship program.
Thank you for enabling me this opportunity ! My dream would not be possible without your generous support.
I am the first in my family to attend college. I feel so blessed. My lifelong dream is moving forward.
Again, thank you, for your donation, and please, do not stop helping because your help made me who I am today.«

Dear PAKIG-ANGAY

On behalf of the Diocesan Social Action Center of Maasin (DSAC-MAASIN), I would like to thank you for yet another year of support to our poor children in the Diocese of Maasin.

In this letter, allow me to introduce a little background regarding the DSAC-Maasin and how it relates to the St. Joseph Boys Home (SJBH) and the PAKIG-ANGAY.
The DSAC-MAASIN is a Catholic relief, development and social service organization. Its program includes, but is not limited to, the following: Scholarship Program, Disaster Response, Housing Projects, Sustainable Agriculture, Livelihood Programs, Relief and Rehabilitation, Environment and Ecology, Health and Nutrition, Good Governance, Socio-Political Advocacies, Charity and the likes.
DSAC-MAASIN is like the Pastoral Ministry or Services or the Catholic Action in the Diocese of Quimper. However, it is the « Secours Catholique – Caritas France » which is the configuration of all similar organizations found in all the Dioceses of your entire country. In the Philippines, we have the Caritas Filipinas which is the equivalent of Caritas France. The configuration of all Caritas in the whole world is Caritas Internationalis in the Vatican.
On the other hand, the SJBH is a non-stock, non-profit corporation, duly organized and registered under the laws of the Philippines. Its main goal is to help poor children, especially those out in the streets and the orphans, so they can be taught good morals and religious values, enrol them in school and monitor until they finish studies. It was first established by the Faithful Companions of Jesus (FCJ) Sisters and when they transferred to another mission, they left behind the administration of the SJBH to the DSAC.

The PAKI-ANGAY, since the year 2014, until now is the one and only sponsor of the children under the SJBH. The PAKIG-ANGAY provides everything to the children (or community scholars) including school fees and materials, projects, allowance, and related needs.

Hence, it is DSAC that manages the SJBH, sponsored by PAKIG-ANGAY for the formation and education of the children. Without PAKIG-ANGAY, our children would have nowhere to go.

Repas philippin dans une ambiance conviviale !

Un peu plus d’une centaine de personnes se sont rassemblées samedi pour le repas organisé par l’association Pakigangay au profit des amis de Maasin, aux Philippines !

Lors du diner, le Père Armand Guézingar a commenté son voyage en photos et, accompagné de Jean-René Blaise qui y a séjourné en 2016, ils ont apporté leurs témoignages, leurs rencontres…  et ont rappelé les besoins vitaux des populations qui habitent les quartiers les plus défavorisés.
